چکیده

Recently, we found that greater norepinephrine transporter (NET) availability in the locus coeruleus of trauma survivors with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) was associated with increased severity of anxious arousal (i.e., hypervigilance and exaggerated startle) symptoms, but not any of the other empirically-derived symptom clusters that characterize this disorder.1 This finding suggests that greater NET availability in the locus coeruleus may serve a compensatory function of clearing elevated synaptic norepinephrine and maintaining anxious arousal symptoms in persons with PTSD.

The norepinephrine transporter gene is associated with the retardation symptoms of major depressive disorder in the Han Chinese population★

The norepinephrine transporter plays an important role in the pathophysiology and pharmacological treatment of major depressive disorder. Consequently, the norepinephrine transporter gene is an attractive candidate in major depressive disorder research. In the present study, we evaluated the depression symptoms of subjects with major depressive disorder, who were all from the North of China and...

Association analysis of norepinephrine transporter polymorphisms and methylphenidate response in ADHD patients.

AIMS Methylphenidate (MPH) is the most frequently prescribed drug in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Hitherto mostly the dopamine transporter gene has been studied in MPH-response and only a few studies analyzed the norepinephrine transporter (NET, SLC6A2) gene, although MPH is a potent inhibitor of both dopamine and norepinephrine transporters. We aimed to analyze this monoami...

Effects of Persisting Emotional Impact from Child Abuse and Norepinephrine Transporter Genetic Variation on Antidepressant Efficacy in Major Depression: A Pilot Study

OBJECTIVE Previous studies suggest child abuse and serotonergic polymorphism influence depression susceptibility and antidepressant efficacy. Polymorphisms of the norepinephrine transporter (NET) may also be involved. Research in the area is possibly clouded by under reporting of abuse in researcher trials. METHODS Adults (n=51) with major depressive disorder has 8 weeks treatment with escita...
